Oscar Wilde’s the Happy Prince- the knitwear is inspired by inner beauty. We explored techniques such as ladders, as this created an openness in the knitwear which then could be layered underneath with fabrics. Inner beauty is just as beautiful as the outside. The floats from the ladder knits are linear when placed flat, which relates to the outer side. The linear floats change when placed around the body and they fall in a very natural way. This shows the two sides of beauty and the changes from outer to inner and the different layers which we don’t always see.
Open knits and ladder techniques in dusky pink cotton yarns, layered with black lace seeping through. Giving the knitwear a suitably rock ’n’ roll edge.

The knitwear is based on contrasts, Dr. Jeykll meets Mr Hyde, proper and improper, regular and irregular and combining opposites. To create this, we explored cable knits as the crossing between the cable show change and this reflected the theme. Increasing and decreasing the cable sizes also created an irregular pattern. We knitted large cable knits, as we wanted them to be raised on the surface, we placed these with flat areas of plain knitting which showed contrasts. This idea worked well with the theme.
Cable knits in merino wool are combined with classic tailoring fabrics to give a twist to tailoring and turning it into something new.

The inspiration for this knitwear collection came from looking at architecture especially Antoni Gaudi. We took the shapes from the buildings and created movement in the knitwear by exploring partial knit techniques. We created irregular holes which related to the window structures and natural forms in Gaudi’s buildings. The irregular structured holes combined with the delicate lace holes and twisted piping details in the knitwear are inspired by the characteristic traits of Gaudi’s architecture. We wanted to create organic-like and sculptural shapes, this was achieved by combining different textures of fabrics and layering the knitted pieces. Adding another dimension to the knitwear.
Marie Antoninette meets Edward Scissorhands. Knitted spiderweb overlays are entwined around the body. Ice blue and lilac body conscious dresses mixed with knitwear and ruffle scattered petals.
